ANTARTICA LIVE
Live Progressive Fusion Performances Originally Recorded in 1982
Marc Soucy • Jeff Carano • Ray Lavigne
ANTARTICA LIVE presents eleven extended instrumental performances by the progressive fusion trio Antartica: Marc Soucy (keyboards), Jeff Carano (bass), and Ray Lavigne (drums).
Originally recorded in 1982 and presented largely as performed, these recordings capture a formative period of the group's evolution. Blending progressive rock, jazz fusion, improvisation, and cinematic themes, the album reflects the spontaneity and creative risk-taking of musicians exploring ideas together in real time.
Recorded with virtually no post-production and almost entirely free of overdubs, ANTARTICA LIVE emphasizes live ensemble interaction over studio refinement. The result is an energetic collection of rhythmically adventurous performances that move between intricate compositions, improvisational passages, and dynamic instrumental interplay.
Drawing inspiration from artists such as Frank Zappa, Gentle Giant, Return to Forever, and Emerson, Lake, & Palmer, Antartica combines instrumental progressive rock and jazz-influenced experimentation into a distinctive musical voice.
