STUDIO WORK

This collection represents a tiny bit of Marc’s work as a producer, multi keyboardist and programmer in recording studios.

All roles played by others are credited.

“It’s been my privilege to have worked with a number of very notable musicians over the years.”

Symbol for avalanche risk over musical equipment, with audio wave flowing over it. Designed by Marc Soucy for "Shotgun Down the Avalanche"

SHOTGUN DOWN THE AVALANCHE

NOMI song by Shawn Colvin produced, arranged & engineered by Marc Soucy in 2021 (a very special anonymous guest): vocals Nomi: guitars, shakers , executive producer Marc: all other instruments including banjo & violin

Thanks to Nomi, an established performer on stage and screen volunteered to sing on this wonderful song. It was a thrill to work with the both of them, and do a bluegrass influenced arrangement on this one.

Chalk writing on blackboard: "Without deviation from the norm, progress is not possible" with translucent audio wave over it. Designed by Marc Soucy for "On The Three"

ON THE THREE

SEVEN SOUTH song by Tony Pearson produced by Tony Pearson in 1996 Baron Browne (Jean-Luc Ponty, Billy Cobham, Exposé): bass guitar Nate Morton (Natalie Cole, The Voice, the House Band): drums Ray Greene (Carlos Santana, Tower of Power): vocals (singing & spoken) (unknown): rapper Tony (live tours with Tina Turner, James Brown): guitar Marc: keyboards including horns played and tracked separately to create a “section”, sound effects

One of the biggest compliments for me was the experience of playing in the recording studio with a virtual supergroup. Every band member is famous for what they have achieved in the music world.

STRANGE PLANET

NOCOVER song by George “Shadowman” Skelly Produced and mixed by Marc Soucy in 2003 George: effected vocals, programming Peter Wiernik: electric guitar lead Marc: keyboards, synth auto-wah “lead”, add’l programming mastered by John Weston

Shadowman (no I didn’t call him that) is a true thinking type. His lyrics and music were a real statement and quite cutting edge at the time. We worked with a few guest artists and I produced two albums for NOCOVER, “No Way, Yah Way” and “Forget”

Young man appearing to fly with the birds towards sunlight, over a closeup of a piano keyboard. Audio waves in the foreground. Dfesigned by Marc Soucy for "Jamas"

JAMAS

VICTOR Y BENJI song by Victor & Benji Concepcion produced by Tito Concepcion in 1996 Victor & Benji: vocals Dr. Jorge Pastrana: rhythm guitar Gabriel De Leon: lead guitar Tony Allen: drums Tim Archibald (RTZ, New Man, Ernie & the Automatics): bass guitar Marc Soucy: poly and lead synthesizers recorded & mixed by Stephen Lotwis (Hollywood music editor) mastered by Dr. Toby Mountain

Stephen Lotwis (Hollywood music editor for many films and tv series) invited me as the synth guy for these recording sessions. It was a superb experience, appearing on a record with such a stellar lineup of musicians. This is the only track that features me on a lead. Obviously I had to put it here!

SESSIONS - the beginning

when Marc got serious

Marc has created a portion of this website as a tribute to the progressive rock band ANTARTICA that he was proud to be a part of in the early 1980s. “I consider that band a real turning point in my life. I had been working hard on music composition as well as on my piano skills, and this band threw me into the deep end in a big hurry.”

These pages include LIVE performances by the group with no second takes, no studio, and no overdubs… blemishes and all. “We were ALMOST ready to start recording in a studio… …This was definitely performing without a net!”

The songs are accompanied by videos created by Marc. Be forewarned: some silly humor is included.
