Pursuing numbness can be a positive thing at times.

An Original Instrumental Work by Marc Soucy

Over the past few days, I've shared the story behind the unusual title and the idea that eventually shaped the music: sometimes a little temporary numbness can be your friend.

If you missed them, you can read the two short pieces here:

Part 1 — Where Did That Title Come From?

Part 2 — Building the Bubble

For me, one of the best ways to find that temporary escape is through music and dance.

Preaching Novacain turns that idea into a techno- and funk-inspired Original Instrumental Work built from electronic drums, synthesizers and flashes of a soul-style horn section.

The accompanying video takes the concept somewhere stranger—through repeating graphic patterns, overlapping broadcasts, medical imagery and dance—before settling into the bubble and staying there.

No complicated message is required once you're inside.

Sometimes the world can wait.

You might as well dance.
