PONTIFICATE
Marc Soucy

Original Concept Version with VO (public release)

Pontificate is a satirical musical exploration of influence, persuasion, and the performance of authority. Blending contemporary electronic grooves, retro-inspired textures, and steadily evolving rhythmic momentum, the composition examines the uneasy relationship between confidence, spectacle, and the truths that often remain hidden beneath carefully crafted public images.

Beginning with a tongue-in-cheek news broadcast that sets the stage, the music gradually develops through layered electronic textures, shifting themes, and mounting dramatic tension. Moments of certainty are repeatedly challenged by irony and growing unease, creating a journey that encourages listeners to question appearances rather than simply accept them.

The companion music video continues the fictional world introduced in World Police (The Solution), expanding its satirical narrative while allowing the music to stand as an independent work of imagination.

Instrumental. Composed, performed, and produced by Marc Soucy.

VOICE SAMPLES / SPOKEN TEXT: “A bizarre series of assassinations has been happening across the globe recently. Nobody has taken responsibility so far, and it has intelligence agencies, and the World Police itself stumped.

Another head of state was found dead today.

Local authorities believe he was the victim of a rival faction claiming legal authority in that country.

Others believe he had lost favor with the global society Citizens For Order.

In either case foul play is most certainly suspected.

Pontificate. Another head of state.

Pontificate. Pontificate.

Another head of state. Pontificate.”
