TASHKENT CLUB FIRE

Tashkent Club Fire begins with the mechanical sounds of a silk loom and a distant female chant as an unseen traveler bicycles through the mountains of Uzbekistan. Central Asian instruments and rhythms gradually gather around the journey as it moves toward the city, establishing a musical world rooted in landscape, culture, and movement.

A chance encounter leads the traveler into a nightclub, where electronic dance rhythms take over—but the earlier journey isn't left behind. Sounds and musical ideas from outside the club begin finding their way into this new environment, allowing one musical world to transform into another rather than simply replacing it.

Then the journey changes abruptly. The club catches fire, the crowd escapes, and the music expands into an overwhelming soundscape of confusion and disaster. We never learn whether the traveler we've been following made it out. What began as a journey through landscape and culture has moved through attraction and exhilaration into uncertainty and danger, with music and imagery continually reshaping one another along the way.
