TROIKA TO TASHKENT

Troika To Tashkent begins with Christmas in Moscow before setting out on a journey by horse and sleigh across an increasingly severe winter landscape. As the travelers move east, the music travels with them—shifting from Eastern European orchestral influences toward the instruments, rhythms, and musical colors of Central Asia.

What begins as a familiar seasonal journey gradually becomes something broader. The changing landscape and musical language lead toward Tashkent, where different traditions and expressions of faith unexpectedly meet. Rather than simply combining regional styles, the composition allows one musical world to evolve into another, using the journey itself to explore the connections that can emerge across cultures.
